It’s the end?! (until Hellboy in Hell, Vol. 1: The Descent at least!)
It’s the end?! (until Hellboy in Hell, Vol. 1: The Descent at least!)
Crazy collection of short stories. And some weird connections between them. Two (really) stories where people just leave their skin alone:
The deliveryman smiled as he eyed the thick stack of currency. “I wonder if the Germans would pay this much to sink a ship and murder a general,” he said. “You wouldn’t happen to be working for the Kaiser, now, would you?”
The minister firmly shook his head. “No, this is a theological matter. Had you been able to locate the document, this would not have been necessary."
King Author? It had to come up eventually. But first, Mab!
All right. Another instance of getting sidetracked from Grandfather’s plan by something random, stumbling into a mystery–that may or may not be one–, another old woman that just wants to be left alone–but not from these children–and more of showing off just how rich they are without realizing it. Oh these books.
Basically, they go to a very poor little island, end up buying supplies and teaching the local kids (since the Aldens know everything, much more than those poor islands), and mess up a man that everyone loved because he was buying local coins and old things for crazy rates.
I only half remember the anime, which apparently diverges at some point anyways. So it’s a combination of half remembered things and being surprised over and over again. Imagine, being saved by Lust/Envy/Gluttony et al – knowing that there’s far more to them, but not exactly what. It’s crazy.
A few random lovely scenes?
An undead with eyes made of coins?
This is most a collection of short stories, with little impact on the larger universe. The stories are still wonderful and creepy though.
A creepy beasty that comes from a woman with her head kicked off:
Oh these are wonderful.
For a while, I was reading an online copy. Turns out that was a fan translation. I’ve seen switched to the real translations from the library, and wow it’s interesting how different the translations can be.
