Hadestown is such a great show.

I first discovered the music a few years ago and listened to it almost non-stop. Then last year, I had a last minute chance to travel to New York and happened into last minute (excellent) tickets to see it on Broadway. Barely any of the original cast1, but it’s still an awesome show.

So when we heard they’d filmed a proshot? With most of the original cast2 re-united on London’s West End?

SIGN ME UP!

It’s the story of Orpheus and Eurydice.

It’s an old song
It’s an old tale from way back when
… It’s a sad song
But we sing it anyway

You know the story, right?

Except this time, it’s a touch post-apocalyptic (which I’d love to read more about really, what happened there?!). And Hades is big into industrialization. With love and workers’ rights and doing what needs to be done all tied up in the story.

Wait for me, I’m coming
Wait, I’m coming with you
Wait for me, I’m coming too
I’m coming too

If you get a chance, it’s absolutely worth checking out this show–and if not (why not both?!), check out the movie version.

Onward!

  1. The Orpheus we saw was one of the original workers and one Fate was original. ↩︎

  2. The Fates and Workers were from West End, the main 5 were from the Broadway run though. ↩︎
