I probably should have skipped this one.
I do like the three short stories well enough.
We get The Bronze Dragon–a game of capture the flag and a new guardian for the camp. Plus we get more of Silena (child of Aphrodite) and Beckendorf (Hephaestus) who are a fun couple.
Then the Sword of Hades–I do enjoy stories with Nico in them. He’s a nicely complicated character. Plus more Thalia! It’s also fun to see Hades and Persephone bickering.
The Stolen Chariot–Percy and Clarisse on a mission is not something I expected to find so enjoyable. Plus, the introduction of Phobos and Deimos, Gods of Fear and Terror. A lot of action in this one.
But on top of that, we have a bunch of puzzles and games (but nothing too hard), guides to weapons, gods, and monsters (but it’s all stuff we’ve picked up through the series or in knowing about Greek mythology in general), and interviews with the characters (which are just kind of … weird? It’s mixing our world and the story world in a weird way).
Overall, it’s fine, but I don’t really think it’s at all necessary to read to continue the series.
Onward!
